To design and develop a new portal that would act as a gateway to Mitsubishi’s 8 divisions operating in over 35 countries throughout Europe. The site would be managed by the UK Corporate Communications department and should require minimal ongoing maintenance by the developers.
In preparing the site’s architecture, thorough consideration was given to Mitsubishi’s corporate guidelines, compliance with W3C standards and management of multi-lingual pages. These wireframe blueprints resulted in a consistent page template with clearly defined and individually editable sections.
The site features a dynamically generated navigation bar, supplemented by a striking rich media banner designed to promote all 8 diverse divisions. Along with a simple drop down box for visitors to select their desired language, a bespoke application was developed to enable quick and easy geo-product selection and re-direct visitors to national or divisional sites.
Using Open Source platforms, for hosting at Mitsubishi IT in Germany, the database allows the administrator to build multi-level pages with advanced formatting options. All meta data is updatable through the Content Management System, making the site Search Engine friendly for future optimisation campaigns.
The stand-alone translation module allows for an unlimited number of languages to be set-up by the administrator, with updates to new countries and product sector menus populated through the automatic uploading of files generated by the client’s own CRM system. The site was launched with a Europe wide Search Engine Pay Per Click campaign on Google Adwords and Yahoo/Overture.
